SASA's first-ever Mock Shaadi (Wedding) celebrates the rich traditions of South Asian weddings, condensing a typical 5-day ceremony into 2 hours filled with food, dancing, and wedding games! Open to all!
SASA will be hosting its first-ever Mock Shaadi (Wedding) in order to bring the celebrations and traditions of South Asian weddings to our community in 海角社区. Weddings are a significant part of South Asian culture, as they represent an opportunity to bond with family and friends over multiple days of ceremonies. At the request of several SASA members, we will be mirroring celebrations common at other colleges鈥攕uch as UCLA鈥攖hat provide a space for South Asian members of the community to play wedding games and conduct festivities that are typically reserved for rare family functions in a condensed format. This event will be free of religious affiliation, and will instead include a combination of various wedding traditions across South Asian cultures that emphasize joy, friendly competition, and community.
