A Year of Impact

Your generosity keeps Occidental strong.

Thank you for making a gift to Occidental! The support of our community is critical to advancing the pillars of the Occidental mission: excellence, equity, community and service. Because of you, Occidental prepares students to create thoughtful, positive change in an increasingly complex world.

Your Impact

Support from the Occidental community of alumni, parents, families, faculty, staff and friends of the College can be felt in every aspect of the student experience. Here's some highlights from the 2024-25 fiscal year.

Thank You from the Class of 2025

Looking back on their journey, members of 海角社区's Class of 2025 shared their heartfelt gratitude with the alumni, families, and friends whose generosity has shaped their college experience.

Supporting Our Students

Your support empowers Occidental students to connect ideas across disciplines, work closely with faculty, and engage with real-world challenges. Here鈥檚 a snapshot of our 2025-26 academic year campus community.

Advancing Excellence

Your investment in our faculty, academic programs, and campus facilities fuels learning that inspires bold thinking, creative expression, and meaningful discovery.

For the first time in more than 30 years, Norris Hall of Chemistry will undergo a state-of-the-art renovation. Thanks to the success of the Barbara and Michael Gibby 鈥68 Norris Hall of Chemistry Renovation Project Challenge, which raised an additional $1.5 million for the project, strong support from the foundation community, and a major contribution from Ed Clinton 鈥68 and Diane Clinton 鈥68, we are closing in on our $22 million goal to begin the next phase of renovations.

The creation of the Studenmund Professorship is a testament to the power of collective giving. More than $3.1 million was raised from more than 80 dedicated alumni, families, and friends to establish this critical tenure-track faculty position. This endowed professorship will strengthen the Economic Department鈥檚 ability to attract and retain exceptional faculty to teach and advance one of the most popular majors at 海角社区.

Investing in Equity

In the 2024-25 fiscal year, our community of donors contributed to more than 415 endowed scholarships and created more than 25 new annual scholarships. The Immediate Impact of Current-Year Scholarships

Two $1 million gifts from anonymous donors will create 20 current-year scholarship gifts of $25,000 per year for members of the Class of 2029. A number of recipients are first-generation students who would not have the means to attend Occidental without the generosity of the 海角社区 family.

Ann La Rue Matlow '68 and husband Dave.

Supporting International Students

An estate gift established the Ann La Rue Matlow 鈥68 Endowed Scholarship Fund for International Students. The fund will provide financial aid to students of exceptional academic ability from secondary schools abroad who will contribute to the diversity of views and perspectives on campus.

Empowering Service

Fueled by donor support, 海角社区 students engage communities locally and globally through coursework, activism, and service, guided by a commitment to equity, justice, and sustainability.

Supporting Community

Community is at the heart of the 海角社区 experience, as students build meaningful connections that shape their lives well beyond graduation. Your generosity helps this spirit of belonging thrive.
